2007 trips in the planning

                                                                                                                        September 26, 2006

Mississippi Mission¡¦s Trip Updates:

Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.  Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers (Gal. 6:9).

God's Katrina Kitchen(GKK) located at:

1501 East Beach Blvd

Pass Christian, MS 39571

See www.godskatrinakitchen.org for a great website.  I have included some information from that website for your convenience.

 Dates in Pass Christian

Jan 14-20 ; 21-27; or 14-27 2007  (please allow for additional days to travel)

Transportation:

  1. Several churches in Indiana have agreed to loan us their 12-15 passenger vans.  This is a great size.  This enables work groups (6-12) to get to sites.  Having large buses may provide an effective means of getting from home to Mississippi, but that makes it difficult to have enough transportation to get volunteers to work sites.
  2. Please, solicit similar-sized vehicles from your part of the country and let me know when you have secured that transportation.

Departure Locations:

The plan is for volunteers to leave from various regions and join up with others along the way to Mississippi.  Once we determine the locales of our volunteer base (where they are coming from), we will establish departures locations.

Who Can Volunteer?

  1. Unskilled laborers ¡V the needs through GKK may change in this regard as the first of the new year approaches.  I will advise on the tasks available to unskilled laborers.

  1. Skilled Laborers ¡V GKK has a serious need for skilled volunteers, such as plumbers, electricians, framers, hvac, etc. Over 20 houses in various stages of construction, meaning over 20 families waiting to live in their homes again, await completion by skilled volunteers. YOU CAN MAKE A LASTING DIFFERENCE FOR MANY LIVES.

  1. Kitchen and Dining Tent Volunteers - If some in your group are better suited to the kitchen/dining tent, here is their chance to shine.  Groups willing to work in the kitchen/dining room that are welcome, also.

Accommodations:

Housing on site in larger backyard storage sheds which include 3-4 sets of twin-sized bunk beds.  Showers and port-a-potties are in vogue there now.  GKK will be relocating sometime and hope to have bathrooms.

There is some availability for RVs and campers.

ASAP--- All reservations are on a first-come first served basis ¡V so I need registration forms and numbers ¡V don¡¦t worry about the money but I need names and skills.

Each person/group, please, select one item from the Non-building supplies list and at least one from the Building supplies list below to purchase or donate towards, or encourage those who cannot go to help with the project and thus, participate.
